Though circus may not be a profession most consider ordinary, Sydney does consider her childhood to fall under the category of ordinary. Growing up in Vancouver, British Columbia, she was constantly surrounded by the phenomenons the outdoors brings, and so began her love and willingness to endeavour on any activity that involved using her body. Sydney's love of trying everything and anything to do with moving her body quickly flourished, and is still a large part of who she is today. Physically using her body grants a feeling of desertion, her own moment of flight. Sydney's immense curiosity led her to dance as well as martial arts. Through dance, she was given the first opportunity to move and present herself to others. She was given another medium to connect with the people around her; whether she knew them personally or not. Though the stage, whether it be a literal stage or not, may not be the most comfortable environment for many; it was a gratifying one for Sydney.
Alongside her devotion to exploring the physical capabilities her body held, there was a side of herself that felt a large amount of enchantment by simply sitting down and reading, or even better, writing. Sydney admires the way words can be used to express so much, and this fuelled her love of reading other’s words, as well as writing her own. This fed Sydney's creative side, and led her to want to continue nourishing that side of herself. Writing allowed her creative side to develop, but it did not provide the physicality she cherished so much. Though as Sydney continued dance and martial arts, it promptly transformed into the world of circus. The world of circus was a phenomenon for her creative and physical side, as it implemented both seamlessly. The world and escape circus created for her fuelled her passion to immerse herself within it completely. Though when you spot Sydney outside of the scene of circus you will find her climbing, reading, writing, cooking and editing photos and videos.
As Sydney finds herself graduating from École Nationale de Cirque, balancing on her hands, being thrown in the air by her duo partner Brianna, and being thrown into the ever-changing world of circus, Sydney finds herself enraptured with a whole heart and an open mind and impatiently excited for what may happen next.
